Covid-19: KENGEN Donates Water TANKS In Mwingi

Mbuku Market, Mukong’a Location, Mumoni Ward, Mwingi North Sub-County, Kitui Minister in charge of Tourism, sports and culture who is also the ag CECM for environment and natural resources, Hon Patrick Koki Musau witnessed Handing over Ceremony of Community Water Tanks By KENGEN Towards Fighting Spread of COVID-19 Pandemic on behalf of the Governor Ngilu.

In a statement delivered by Kitui County Minister for Tourism, Sports and Culture who is also the Ag. County Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Hon Patrick Koki Musau, the Governor thanked Kengen for hosting such an auspicious noble event to hand over water tanks and other materials as part of their support to our community towards prevention of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor further thanked kengen once more for their long standing Partnership with communities within Kengen’s buffer zone within the 7 Forks Dam in the three Counties of Kitui, Embu and Machakos.

The Governor briefed Kengen officials on steps which Kitui County Government has so far taken in lead of preventing spread of COVID-19 by production of face masks and other personal protective gears (PPE) for health workers at KICOTEC which works at 24/7 to produce these essential materials so far having distributed half a million face masks to residents and 1,000 hand washing stations in public places (installed with tanks and soap).

She further notified Kengen on the initiatives Kitui County has taken to trained our young men and women in making concrete products such as cabros, culverts, paving blocks and interlocking bricks at Kitui County Youth Enterprise Centre (KICOYEC) which is creating jobs locally as a way of an economic empowerment to our community since fragile economies increase the risk for spread of COVID-19.


In his statement, the County Minister also thanked Kengen team for their devotion and dedication to support several communities living within their buffer zones, he also thanked Mukong’a residents for turning up in a big numbers where they received Governor Ngilu’s greetings overwhelmingly.

He told Mukong’a residents that Kitui County Government under the able leadership of Governor Ngilu is fully committed to bring development at their door steps and that she’s keenly working on the projects they want accomplished in their region while appreciating for what the Governor has done so far.

Kengen on their part promised to continue supporting communities living within their buffer zones in partnership with Kitui County Government as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in lines of Environment, Sports, Cultural activities, Education, Water , health care among others.

The high power delegation had been led by the Regional Manager Eastern Hydro Eng. Julius Odumbe, Corporate Affairs Manager Madam Grace Chepkwony among other senior officers, Human Resource Manager, Liasons officer madam Peninah Muthoni.

Others were representatives of Mwingi North MP Hon Eng Paul Nzengu and the area MCA Hon Johnson Kanandu, Mumoni Ward Administrator Mr Kyalo, the area Chief among other guests.
