  • 1. Honesty and Integrity

The reason why our community (Tharaka Ward) as a whole has remained at stunted growth is simply characterized by dishonest and lack of integrity by leaders who mean what they don’t intent to fulfill.

Getting honest leaders who value society, will be a game changer going forward. Hon kariuki is one of the young politician who has remained an icon to the issues affecting the community. His charisma approach makes him the best suited for MCA leadership in Tharaka come 2022.

2. Confidence

To be an effective leader, you should be confident enough to ensure that other follow your commands. If you are unsure about your own decisions and qualities, then your subordinates will never follow you. As a leader, you have to be oozing with confidence, show some swagger and assertiveness to gain the respect of your subordinates. This does not mean that you should be overconfident, but you should at least reflect the degree of confidence required to ensure that your followers trust you as a leader.

Hon Kariuki has maintained both his political opponents and at the same time outshining them from his bold approach to continue gaining momentum and gaining trust across the gender spectrum.

3. Inspire Others

Probably the most difficult job for a leader is to persuade others to follow. It can only be possible if you inspire your followers by setting a good example. When the going gets tough, they look up to you and see how you react to the situation. If you handle it well, they will follow you. As a leader, should think positive and this positive approach should be visible through your actions. Stay calm under pressure and keep the motivation level up. As Hon. Kariuki kamau puts it;

4. Commitment and Passion

Your teams look up to you and if you want them to give them their all, you will have to be passionate about it too. When your teammates see you getting your hands dirty, they will also give their best shot. It will also help you to gain the respect of your subordinates and infuse new energy in your team members, which helps them to perform better. If they feel that you are not fully committed or lacks passion, then it would be an uphill task for the leader to motivate your followers to achieve the goal.Hon .kariuki has remained committed to the course of youth affairs in Tharaka.One of his moves was by organizing JOHN MAKAU CUP at Nthangani among others.

5. Good Communicator

Until you clearly communicate your vision to your team and tell them the strategy to achieve the goal, it will be very difficult for you to get the results you want. Simply put, if you are unable to communicate your message effectively to your team, you can never be a good leader. A good communicator can be a good leader. Words have the power to motivate people and make them do the unthinkable. If you use them effectively, you can also achieve better results.Hon kariuki has and continues to trickle down important information from his diverse connection with key leaders in Kenyan politics to aggressively update his followers of numerous events to be initiated.

No wonder he is considered people’s MCA .

Delegation involves exercise authority to lead followers to achieve expected results and empowerment involves upholding and initiation of positive support to others to uplift their lives.Hon kariuki has been instrumental to his people, he believes you can’t lead people who are hungry to achieve much,that why he makes contributions to help less fortune to have sustained healthy.

9.Creative and innovative

A leader must be dynamic and have high level of global spectrum. Hon kariuki for instance has developed quality policy formulation that will see people living along river tana such as gatundu , Konyu,Kiguru,Kamatiyia,Nkoru,Kariini,Gakombe villages have machines to start small scale farming that intents to support them to build the neighboring markets through subsidiaries funds once he is elected as the area MCA.

10.Emotional intelligence

Most leaders who value society must accept critic and absorb them to build a stronger government. Kariuki is one of the few leaders tharaka has,he is too passionate and will never carry personal emotions to make vulgar words but also understands the persons responding to him.He has actively advised members not to take political words to mean personal directive.

A leader must have vision towards the people he intents to lead.Hon kariuki has drawn attention and enjoys great support for his aggressive approach toward wanting a unified tharaka. He hates discrimination of the people based on the locations one may be coming from, political boundaries has really affected how people relate.

A leader should be humble over the people he intents to lead. Hon kariuki is a great pillar not only from his village of kamatumo but also to the whole ward.He is down to earth,a man who believe we are all equal despite our social classes and treat everyone with dignity it deserves. This has made people want him to run for MCA and restore hope to the community.

13.Religious

A great leader must have a right choice of the supreme being. Hon kariuki believes in true God through Bible verses that guides him on the level of leadership skills he must portray to lead God’s people.He has supported many churches across the ward, he believes that is the best investment that one can have while on earth.

14.influential

Influence is the ability to enjoy massive support in any direction one my take.Hon kariuki’s entry into active politics in 2017 scared almost those that were running yet he was not contesting. His tactical approach was first by helping the current MCA get wiper certificate and later decamped to another candidate who would not have gotten more than 40 votes from kanthungu but through kariuki made him become the second in kanthungu. His political weighty has been supported by his political guru at Hon John. M.Makau who natured him politically.
