On Friday, September 16, 2022 – The County Government of Kitui sponsored 42 pupils drawn from various schools to participate in the 2022 Annual National School Music Festival in Kisumu County.
Speaking at Central Primary school in Kitui Town after flagging off one of the teams, the Chief Officer for Basic Education, ICT and Youth Development Agnetta Peter exuded confidence that the contestants would bring victory home.
“We are confident that the contestants, from Mbitini, Central, Potters and Mwanziu primary schools, will brilliantly represent our county and excel in the music competitions,” she noted.
The Chief Officer thanked Governor Julius Malombe for his invaluable support towards facilitation of the pupils, their trainers, teachers and parents to partake in the 94th national music festivals which will be held at Maseno University between September 18th to 25th.
She reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to support all spheres of education in the county including co-curricular activities in order to nurture potential and talents among children and young people.
Deputy Director for Basic Education, ICT and Youth Development Sammy Mwenga is accompanying the teams.
The festivals have resumed after a two-year disruption following the Covid-19 pandemic which saw the Ministry of Education suspend all co-curricular activities for learning institutions countrywide.
