On Saturday, June 19, 2021 -The Kamba Council of Elders (Atumia ma Thome) Kitui County Executive Committee officials have cautioned the Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka against joining the political alliances in Kenya without consulting them (the elders).
“He has to widely consult us (the elders) before making his decision,” they said. “The one who will go alone will be alone. We will not be with him.
We have to go together in unity,” the elders said in a statement they issued at the Kitui Parkside Villa Hotel in Kitui Town on Friday, June 18, 2021. They had been led by their chairman Boniface Kameta Manzi.
We are still pondering over Kalonzo’s plans to vie for the country’s presidential seat during the country’s 2022 general elections, they added. The elders asked Kalonzo not to allow himself to be misled politically.
Kalonzo, 67 years old, hails from Kitui County. He recently declared that he will never support the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amolo Odinga or any other presidential candidate in the country’s next general elections.
Kalonzo is among the political leaders who have already declared their candidacies in the country’s president seat during the country’s 2022 general elections. .

The Kitui County elders said that they have not yet decided on whom to support for the gubernatorial seats in the three Ukambani counties of Kitui, Machakos and Makueni during the Kenya’s 2022 general elections.
And they at the same time postponed the June 2021 meeting that they had planned for the council members in Kitui County due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
They announced that the meeting will take place in July 2021. They also announced that they are going to make the replacements for the council’s current vacant seats in the county soon.
