On Friday, November 17, 2023. The County Assembly Committee on Public Investments and Accounts under the stewardship of Hon. Gabriel Munyao (Kauwi) today concluded its week-long inspection exercise in a quest to get answers to audit queries raised by the Office of the Auditor General on various projects across the County. Among the queries noted by the Office of the Auditor General ranges from poor workmanship, stalled construction projects, unutilized hospital equipment and lack of proper projects documentation. Today, the Hon. Munyao led committee made its first stop at Kauwi Sub-county hospital where they inspected a Ksh. 8.7 million stalled X-Ray room and the unutilized X-Ray machine in the facility. The committee established that the contract for the X-Ray room project was terminated when it was 70% complete. On the unutilized X-Ray machine which has been laying idle at the facility since 2019, the committee learnt that this is occasioned by the delay in completion of the X-Ray room where the machine is to be installed. Later, the committee visited Mwingi Level IV Hospital where Honourable Members inspected the Ksh. 20 million stalled new mortuary building, Ksh. 65 million medical ward that stalled at foundation level, a Ksh 17 million tuition block at KMTC Mwingi that stalled at slab level, and a Ksh. 30 million perimeter wall that is yet to be completed. The committee established that the construction of new mortuary project stalled when it was 80% complete. The committee also found out that the Medical Ward and the KMTC tuition block both stalled at 1%, while the perimeter wall was partially done . The committee called on the executive arm of the county government to ensure prudent use of public money by ensuring completion of stalled projects before…

Deputy Governor Kanani took the opportunity to convey this important message while leading a proactive waterway and drainage unblocking exercise in the Kalundu shopping center within Kitui municipality. This exercise is part of the Kitui County government’s comprehensive plan to minimize the potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and possible flooding. “As a county government, we are leaving no stone unturned in our preparations for the expected above-normal rains,” Kanani stated emphatically. The administration is determined to take all necessary precautions, which include the unblocking of drainage systems in urban areas and the implementation of effective garbage management strategies. These measures are vital to preventing potential flooding and the outbreak of water-borne diseases that can result from heavy rains. Accompanying Deputy Governor Kanani were several key figures, including Area MCA Mr. Daniel Ngoima, Mr. Fred Kimanga, CECM for Lands and Urban Development, Eng. Gospel Artist Zipporah Eric Advocates for Fair Treatment Amidst Ministerial Engagements with pastors in Kenya. In viral video footage – Kamba gospel musician Zipporah Eric has come forward to share her disheartening experiences of mistreatment by pastors during her performances. The talented artist claims to have faced repeated instances where she was invited to perform in churches, only to be disregarded at the last minute, leaving her with canceled engagements and a sense of frustration. Zipporah Eric, known for her soul-stirring gospel compositions, expressed her grievances, calling attention to the need for fair treatment in the gospel music ministry. The artist has gone as far as contemplating the necessity of entering into signed contracts with pastors before agreeing to perform, a move she believes might protect her from being unceremoniously ignored. This cry for help from Zipporah sheds light on an issue that may be prevalent but often goes unnoticed within the gospel music community. Artists, like any professionals, rely on the respect and integrity of those who invite them to share their talents, and Zipporah’s experience highlights a potential gap in this aspect of the ministry. It is not uncommon for gospel artists to face challenges and uncertainties in their journey, but mistreatment by pastors in the manner described by Zipporah is particularly disconcerting. The artist emphasizes the emotional and professional toll such incidents take, especially when other commitments are compromised due to last-minute cancellations. The idea of formal contracts between artists and pastors reflects a desire for transparency and accountability in the working relationships within the gospel music sphere. While it may seem unconventional in the context of ministry, Zipporah’s plea raises important questions about the mutual respect and professionalism that should exist between artists and those who…
In a surprising turn of events, Mutonguni MCA Honorable Kiluma was notably and conspicuously absent from a significant gathering in his own constituency. The event, which drew the presence of esteemed figures such as Cabinet Secretary Honorable Penina Malonza, Commissioners, Kitui West MP Honorable Vethi Nyenze, and Mwingi West MP Honorable Charles Nguna, raised eyebrows as the local representative failed to make an appearance. The occasion, presumably of great importance to the community, took place in Mutonguni ward, where the MCA’s absence left a void in the representation of his constituents. While other leaders and dignitaries graced the event with their presence, the MCA’s whereabouts remained unknown, sparking curiosity and concern among the attendees. Cabinet Secretary Honorable Penina Malonza’s attendance added a significant weight to the event, emphasizing its importance on a broader scale. The gathering, which seemingly aimed to address community concerns or celebrate a milestone, took an unexpected turn with the missing local representative. Questions arise about the reasons behind Honorable Kiluma’s absence, especially considering the notable attendees and the potential impact on his relationship with both local and national leaders. The role of an MCA is crucial in representing the interests of the community, and a no-show at such a gathering may lead to speculation and dissatisfaction among constituents. As community members express their disappointment over the MCA’s non-participation, it remains to be seen how this absence will be addressed by both Honorable Kiluma and the constituents he represents. The incident highlights the importance of consistent and active engagement by elected officials to fulfill their responsibilities and maintain the trust of the people they serve. ///
In a recent turn of events at his church in Nairobi, the controversial figure, Apostle James Maina Nganga, has issued a stern warning to scholars and educated individuals, stating that those with degrees should stay away from places of worship that prioritize intellectual pursuits over spiritual matters. This provocative statement has stirred up quite a bit of controversy and discussion within the religious community. Apostle James Maina Nganga, known for his unapologetic and sometimes divisive preaching style, did not mince words as he addressed the congregation. He argued that too often, churches have become breeding grounds for intellectualism, which he believes can be detrimental to the true essence of spirituality. Nganga has long maintained a stance that intellectualism and the pursuit of academic degrees can divert believers from the spiritual path. While this viewpoint might be contentious, it underscores the ongoing debate within religious circles about the role of education and spirituality in the modern world. Some argue that education and faith can coexist harmoniously, enriching each other. Others, like Apostle Nganga, believe that a relentless focus on education may dilute the spiritual purity of religious gatherings. Critics argue that this approach is regressive and that an inclusive environment should welcome all individuals, regardless of their educational backgrounds. They stress that the quest for knowledge and spirituality are not mutually exclusive, and a diverse congregation can bring a richness of perspectives to a faith community. Apostle Nganga’s statement has raised questions about the role of religious leaders in today’s world. As society becomes increasingly educated and interconnected, religious leaders often find themselves at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. The balance between preserving spiritual traditions and adapting to contemporary times is an ongoing challenge. While Apostle James Maina Nganga’s contentious…

This presupposes a political landscape devoid of surprises and the absence of a formidable candidate from Mwingi who could rally the region’s support. As the political chessboard takes shape, the need for Mwingi residents to “dream less” is a call to action for the community. It challenges them to actively engage in the political process, identify strong leadership figures, and assert their collective voice in shaping the region’s future. while the presented facts suggest a predictable political trajectory for Kitui, the ever-evolving nature of politics introduces an element of uncertainty.
