BREAKING NEWS: Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been Impeached by divided Senate on Thursday evening.
The Senator is expected to be head to the courts of the law to put up a spirited fight for the man who the media has dubbed as the ‘Paper General’
Makueni Senator Mutula’s act of abstaining from the vote could only mean one thing; he supported the impeachment of the governor but lacked balls to pronounce it. He instead elected, like a coward, to take a middle ground.
Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua stood up for Governor Sonko, all ODM senators voted to impeach the Governor.
But happened on Thursday night was a political process. Straight and narrow. And in politics there is no middle ground. There is no fence sitting.
When a son of Ukambani was being fought by cartels and removed from office on unfounded allegations, in furtherance of political expedience, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr opted to abstain, a threat for devolution.
History will judge the senators harshly.
