The Kitui Catholic Diocese Bishop, the Right Reverend Joseph Mwongela, has ordained eight priests and seven deacons.
The colourful ceremony that was held at the Kitui School for the Deaf in Kitui Town on Saturday, June 11, 2022 was attended by thousands of the Catholic faithful.
The bishop is the sponsor of the Kitui School for the Deaf. In total, Bishop Mwongela is the sponsor of some 267 public primary and 120 public secondary schools in Kitui County. And the diocese itself owns a total of 24 schools.
Speaking to the congregation, the prelate asked Kenyans to conduct peaceful campaigns and elections “because the political campaigns and elections will end, but Kenyans will continue living together as one people of one country.”
The Kenya’s general elections will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
The Kitui Catholic Diocese was created in 1954. And Mwongela is the diocese’s fourth bishop after William Dunne, Boniface Mathitu Lele and Anthony Muheria.
