Wiper Party is set to hit the ground to popularize their candidate in Kitise Kithuki. This is after Sebastian Muli beat Nzumbi in a hotly contested Party nomination on Friday.
The By-Election to be held on 4th March was occasioned by the resignation of former MCA Ken Mutuku who later joined Makueni County Assembly as a clerk.
The two candidates had failed to have a gentleman’s agreement leaving the party with no option but to subject them to a fair nomination. Sebastian won by a huge margin with 3429 votes while Nzumbi gunnered 1414 votes.
Speaking to County Diary after announcing the results Makueni County Wiper Party Chairman Francis Mutuku alias Musso asked the two teams to forge a united front to give the party victory in ballot. “We had two teams let us talk to all and assure them Muli is now our wiper candidate.
Let us embrace everybody to win with a Landslide” said Musso adding that he could not take a position until the nomination process was over “Nzumbi did well and made the competition joyous. Cogratulations Nzumbi for participating and fighting very hard.
Let us join hands and give Wiper an easy time. We had to let them do their part first but our work has now began” said the tough speaking Chairman
Wiper Youth Democrats Secretary General Mbula Mutula who doubles as a nominated MCA in Makueni County Assembly castigated the youth for not turning out to vote. “Sebastian is strong on the ground but Nzumbi was stronger and popular on social media. I was shocked that Nzumbi was being supported by the elite and youths but unfortunately very few youths voted for him today” Mbula lamented adding that Sebastian was being supported by the common man and the elderly.
She chastised youth who politic on social media but abscond ballot on the voting day. “I was on the ground since yesterday and the truth is that Sebastian is very strong” Mbula added.
It was a rude shock for many as Nzumbi seemed to have more youthful supporters in his campaigns. Volunteers who took heated social media of debates encouraging the youth to vote for their fellow youth were equally disappointed but upheld party democracy.
They thanked the Party for holding free and fair party nominations that have boosted voter confindence.
“I supported my good friend Nzumbi but he lost to Sebastian. Now that Kitise-Kithuki people thought otherwise i have to be democratic. I support the Winner.
From now on it is Wiper all the way now final ballot” said Musoma a former Makueni Parliamentary aspirant. “We should send a very strong political statement through Kitise Kithuki By Election. It will set stage for the coming Machakos Senatorial election” he added.
