The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Petroleum, Mohamed Liban, CBS, on Monday commissioned borehole equipment at Kitui Teachers Training College (KTTC) as part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Mashujaa Day national celebrations. The commissioning marks a significant milestone in ensuring sustainable water supply to support the institution and the larger Kitui community.
Speaking during the event, PS Liban reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting access to clean and reliable water through energy-efficient solutions. He noted that the borehole project aligns with the national government’s broader goal of enhancing energy and water security across learning institutions. He further commended local contractors for their efficiency in delivering the project within the set timelines.
Liban was accompanied by ICT and Digital Strategist Denis Itumbi and other senior government officials who lauded the collaboration between the national and county governments in driving development initiatives in Kitui County. They underscored the importance of integrating modern technology and renewable energy in such projects to ensure long-term sustainability.
The event was part of the Energy Week activities taking place in Kitui ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations slated for later this month. The celebrations are expected to showcase key infrastructural developments and government programs transforming lives in Kitui and across the country.
