Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke, on Sunday joined fellow government officials in inspecting the ongoing works at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County ahead of the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Mueke was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, H.E. Salim Mvurya, PS Raymond Omollo (Internal Security), and PS Elijah Mwangi (Sports). The delegation toured the facility to assess its readiness and ensure all final touches are completed in time for the national event.
According to the inspection team, Ithookwe Stadium is now 96 percent complete, with the progress described as “impressive and on schedule.” The officials expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and noted that Kitui is ready to host the nation for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The team was warmly received by Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, whose administration has played a key role in facilitating local infrastructure and logistical support ahead of the national event. The Mashujaa Day celebrations, set to be held later this month, are expected to attract thousands of visitors to Kitui County.
