Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Hon. Jonathan Mueke on Thursday joined Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe in convening the 2025 Intergovernmental Forum on Agriculture (IGAF) in Naivasha. The high-level meeting brought together key actors from national and county governments to discuss bold strategies aimed at transforming Kenya’s agricultural sector through investment, technology and innovation.

In his address, PS Mueke underscored the government’s ongoing rollout of e-vouchers for fertilizers and livestock vaccines. He noted that the digital system is not only boosting transparency but also significantly reducing leakages, while empowering private-sector players to improve delivery to farmers. The initiative is expected to enhance efficiency and help farmers access critical inputs more reliably.

During the forum, participants explored a range of modern technologies designed to elevate agricultural productivity and build climate resilience. These included climate-smart farming techniques, enhanced agro-processing models and precision agriculture tools capable of improving yields and creating new job opportunities across the value chain.

The Naivasha forum also offered a platform for counties to share experiences and showcase innovations already taking root in various regions. Leaders emphasized the importance of integrating technology into all segments of agriculture, from production to processing, to strengthen food security and boost competitiveness in global markets.

Governors, senior county officials, private sector representatives and development partners attended the gathering, affirming their commitment to deepen collaboration. They pledged to work collectively in driving Kenya toward a more modern, globally competitive and tech-driven agricultural future.
