Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo on Thursday hosted Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe at the newly established Healing Farm in Muselele, Kitui Rural Sub-County, a landmark facility set to serve as a refuge for survivors of gender-based violence from across Africa. The visit brought together county leadership, development partners, and local stakeholders to assess the progress and impact of the transformative project.

The one-billion-shilling Healing Farm, spearheaded by Urgent Action Fund–Africa in partnership with international organizations, is designed to offer victims of GBV a safe environment to rest, heal, and rebuild their lives. The facility will integrate trauma recovery programs, wellness support, and socio-economic empowerment initiatives, placing Kitui at the forefront of humanitarian innovation in the region.

Speaking during the funders’ visit, Governor Malombe commended the initiative as a game-changer, emphasizing the project’s broader economic and social benefits. He noted that the Healing Farm will stimulate job creation, open up business opportunities, enhance tourism, and position Kitui as a continental leader in research and GBV response.

The Governor further reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the project, citing ongoing upgrades in infrastructure, healthcare systems, and gender-based violence response mechanisms across the county. He assured partners that Kitui remains committed to providing an enabling environment for the facility’s success.

The tour was attended by a section of Cabinet members, community leaders, and other local officials who praised MCA Mark Ndingo for his instrumental role in facilitating development within Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward.
