Kitui South Member of Parliament, Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, has reiterated her firm commitment to ensuring tangible development reaches the people of Kitui South and the larger Ukambani region. Speaking after a high-level meeting with President William Ruto and Ukambani leaders at State Lodge, Kitui through her Social Media page, Dr. Nyamai described the gathering as both transformative and timely, saying it reaffirmed the urgent need to turn national plans into real progress on the ground.
The MP noted that residents of Ukambani have endured decades of stalled promises and underdevelopment, particularly in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, water supply, and healthcare. “Our people have waited long enough. We cannot afford to wait any more,” she stated, emphasizing that leaders must now move beyond dialogue and focus on implementation.
Dr. Nyamai affirmed that she will personally take responsibility for ensuring that the commitments made during the meeting are pursued with urgency and transparency. She vowed to hold all stakeholders accountable, including government ministries, development partners, and elected leaders, to ensure timely delivery of key projects affecting her constituency.
Infrastructure topped her priorities, with the MP highlighting the critical need for improved road networks to support trade, mobility, and access to essential services. She also underscored the importance of reliable water supply systems, noting that water scarcity continues to hinder livelihoods across Kitui South.
On education and healthcare, Dr. Nyamai emphasized that quality schooling and accessible medical services remain non-negotiable pillars of development. She called for adequate funding, better staffing, and continuous monitoring to ensure that these sectors deliver meaningful impact for families and children in her constituency.
The legislator concluded by urging cooperation among leaders, communities, and national government agencies. “Unity of purpose must be matched by clear plans, transparent oversight, and continuous engagement with the people,” she said. “Every commitment made here must translate into visible improvements in the lives of Kitui South citizens.”
