On Tuesday, April 25, 2023 –
Agriculture and Livestock Development CECM Stephen Mbaya Kimwele graced the election of Community Driven Development Committee (CDDC) for the Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP) held at Kalisasi in Mwingi Central Sub-County.
ELRP is a World Bank – funded national government project aimed at preventing the spread of desert locust in Kenya through continuous surveillance and control.
The project also seeks to protect, restore and rehabilitate livelihoods of households affected by desert locust invasion besides strengthening coordination and capacity-building for early warning and preparedness for desert locust.
In his remarks, the CECM urged the newly-elected officials to execute their mandate with honesty, integrity and fairness.
The newly-installed CDDC will be tasked with overseeing implementation of ELRP and approved micro project proposals at the community level, resource mobilisation, and roject Reporting at the community level.
