The County Government of Kitui, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, has successfully completed the construction of the Karumu Sump Well in Kangingo Village, Tseikuru Ward, during the 2024/2025 Financial Year.
The newly completed water project is already transforming lives in the area, providing a reliable source of water to hundreds of residents and their domestic livestock. For years, the community has grappled with acute water shortages, forcing families to travel long distances in search of the precious resource.
Residents have expressed profound happiness and relief following the completion of the sump well, terming it a timely intervention that will significantly improve household welfare, sanitation, and livestock productivity. Community members say the project has reduced the burden on women and children who previously spent many hours fetching water.
The Karumu Sump Well is part of the county governmentโs broader commitment to invest in water infrastructure, especially in arid and semi-arid areas, to enhance food security, improve livelihoods, and boost resilience against drought.
County officials have reiterated that the Malombe administration remains focused on delivering people-centered development projects that respond to the real needs of wananchi across Kitui County.
