Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o has called on the national government to urgently increase capitation to schools, citing the current hard economic times facing parents, learners, and learning institutions. He noted that the rising cost of basic commodities has strained school operations, making it difficult for institutions to run smoothly under the existing funding levels.
The MCA also urged the government to set aside adequate funds for school feeding programmes, especially in regions that experienced poor rainfall and are facing food insecurity. He said many learners go to school hungry, a situation that negatively affects attendance, concentration, and overall academic performance.
Hon. Nding’o emphasized that investing in education support programmes is critical to safeguarding the future of children, particularly those from vulnerable households. He appealed to both the national and county governments to prioritize education financing and food security interventions to ensure no child is left behind due to hunger or lack of resources.
