Nicholas Mulila has called on leaders in Kitui County to abandon divisive and “cheap” politics and instead focus on development-driven discourse that addresses the real needs of wananchi.
Mulila made the remarks on Saturday during the burial ceremony of the late Nicholas Mutiso Ngimbwa at Katheka Sublocation in Kitui West. The deceased was the father of Commissioner Ben Muasya, among other family members.
Addressing mourners and leaders present, Mulila urged politicians to respect public forums—especially funerals—and use their influence responsibly by promoting unity, peace, and tangible development agendas. He emphasized that the people of Kitui are more interested in solutions that improve livelihoods than endless political exchanges.
“Our people want development, not endless political noise. Leaders must rise above personal and party differences and speak to issues that directly uplift communities,” Mulila said.
The event drew several senior leaders, including:
• Hon. Edith Nyenze, Member of Parliament, Kitui West
• Hon. Irene Kasalu, Kitui County Woman Representative
• Sen. Kiio Wambua, Senator, Kitui County
• Hon. Mary Chebukati, Commissioner, Commission on Revenue Allocation
• Dr. Vincent Munyoki, among other dignitaries
Leaders present echoed calls for calm, unity, and respect during public gatherings, noting that development partnerships require cohesion across political divides.
The late Nicholas Mutiso Ngimbwa was remembered as a devoted family man whose legacy continues through his children and the values he instilled.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
