Kitui County has emerged on the national spotlight following the release of the Mizani Africa Performance Index 2025, which ranks Members of County Assembly based on their performance across the full constitutional mandate. The index evaluates MCAs on legislation, oversight, representation, and development advocacy within their respective county assemblies.
Yatta kwa Vonza MCA Mark Nding’o was ranked number one nationally, a rare achievement that places both the ward and Kitui County among the best-performing devolved units in the country. The recognition highlights his active participation in county legislation, effective committee work, and strong oversight of county executive departments, particularly in budgeting, procurement, and service delivery.
The index further credits high-performing MCAs for remaining accessible to citizens, articulating community priorities, and translating ward-level needs into actionable policy decisions. Mark Nding’o’s top national ranking reflects strong grassroots leadership and consistent advocacy for development at the assembly level. As Kitui celebrates this milestone, the county continues to shine as a model of effective leadership under devolution. 👏👏👏
