Kitui County Executive Committee Member for Culture, Gender and Social Services, Ms. Phoebe Mutemi, has called on parents and caregivers to register persons with disabilities so they can benefit from government support and essential services.
Speaking during the International Day for Persons with Disabilities held at Zombe playgrounds in Kitui East, Ms. Mutemi said the registration process is key to promoting inclusivity, equality and targeted assistance for individuals living with disabilities.
She noted that the County Government of Kitui has already supplied assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walking canes and will continue to expand support to registered beneficiaries. The initiative also aligns with this year’s global theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
The event was attended by Ms. Esther Mutemi, Acting Chief Officer for Culture, Gender and Social Services, alongside other county officials, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to championing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
