Zombe town erupted in excitement as the Fourth Edition of the Sammy Mutea Tournament reached a thrilling climax at Kaumu Community Grounds, where Ndakani FC were crowned champions after a commanding 3–0 victory over Kawea FC. The win capped off a day of intense football action that had gripped the entire region from kickoff to the final whistle.
The high-octane tournament had kicked off in style, with businessman and sports enthusiast Sammy Mutea making a grand entrance into Zombe in a colourful convoy of vehicles and bodaboda riders. His arrival electrified the town, instantly drawing hundreds of fans to Kaumu Grounds to witness the much-anticipated matches.
From the onset, the tournament lived up to its reputation as one of the most spirited grassroots competitions in the local football calendar. Six teams—Ngaaka FC, Ndakani FC, Kawea FC, Kavaani FC, Spartans FC and Kasunguni FC—stormed the pitch in pursuit of glory, each determined to stake their claim on the prestigious Mutea Cup.
