The Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, has announced significant progress in Kenya’s meat value chain, highlighting notable growth driven by modernization and strategic sector reforms. He noted that enhanced production systems and improved market linkages have boosted meat exports, positioning the country as a competitive player in regional and international markets.

According to the PS, these gains have translated into increased earnings for farmers, traders, and processors across the livestock sector. He emphasized that investments in technology, infrastructure, and quality standards have played a key role in elevating the value and safety of Kenyan meat products, ultimately benefiting communities that rely heavily on livestock for their livelihoods.

Hon. Mueke further pointed out that strengthened animal health interventions have ensured better disease control, contributing to consistent supply and higher-quality products. He affirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining this momentum through continued support, innovation, and collaboration with stakeholders under the #BETAKilimo framework.
