The County Government of Kitui has officially submitted the Kitui County Youth Empowerment and Development Policy, 2025 to the County Assembly for consideration and approval. The policy document, dated June 2025, was forwarded by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports and Social Services.
According to a transmission letter stamped as received on 3rd June 2025, the policy was reviewed and approved by the County Executive Committee during a meeting held on 20th June 2025. The Ministry noted that the policy aims to provide a structured framework for youth development, empowerment, and participation in governance and economic activities across the county.
The submission is made in line with Article 183(1)(c) of the Constitution of Kenya, which mandates County Executive Committees to submit county plans and policies to the County Assembly for approval. The letter also cites Articles 185(1) and 185(2), which empower the County Assembly to approve county legislation, plans, and policies.
Once approved, the Kitui County Youth Empowerment and Development Policy, 2025 is expected to guide long-term youth-focused programs, resource allocation, and institutional coordination aimed at improving opportunities for young people in Kitui.
