Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for the steady progress being witnessed on the Emali–Matiliku Road, a key segment of the larger Emali–Ukia (A5) Corridor. The legislator noted that the works currently underway are already transforming the once dilapidated stretch, bringing new hope to road users and local residents.
According to Hon. Mutuse, the 20-kilometre section of the road has seen remarkable improvement, with a fresh layer of tarmac already laid. He added that the full bitumen upgrade is ongoing and progressing according to expectations. The project is expected to significantly ease transport, boost trade, and enhance connectivity for communities across Kibwezi West and neighbouring regions.
The MP emphasized that the Emali–Matiliku upgrade is not only a fulfilment of national government commitments but also a major win for local development. Farmers transporting their produce, traders accessing markets, and residents travelling to social amenities are all poised to benefit from the revitalized corridor once completed. Mutuse praised the contractors for maintaining the momentum and delivering quality work.
In his statement, Hon. Mutuse also made a light but pointed remark directed at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, urging him to consider making his next visit to the area during the day. He noted that a clearer, daytime tour would allow the former Vice President to fully appreciate the extent of the work already completed along the road.
The Kibwezi West MP further called for continued collaboration between leaders across political divides, emphasizing that development should rise above partisan interests. He reiterated that when leaders support ongoing government projects, residents ultimately benefit through improved infrastructure and better service delivery.
Hon. Mutuse concluded by expressing optimism that once the entire Emali–Ukia (A5) Road is upgraded to full bitumen standard, the region will experience accelerated economic growth. He thanked President Ruto once again for prioritizing the project and ensuring that infrastructural development remains at the centre of the national agenda.
