Kitui County Chief Officer for Finance and Revenue Management, CPA John Kimwele, has urged leaders to uphold truth and integrity when addressing public matters. Speaking to the media in his office on Friday, Kimwele firmly stated that the county government is operating within the law and accused critics of spreading unfounded allegations regarding illegal cess collection.

Kimwele clarified that all cess collection points across Kitui County are duly ratified by the Cabinet and legally gazetted as required by county government regulations. He noted that the allegations circulating on social media and other platforms are misleading, emphasizing that the revenue operations follow established legal frameworks.

The Chief Officer called out critics who, he said, have been consistently running propaganda against the county administration. He encouraged members of the public to seek accurate information directly from government offices rather than relying on hearsay and politically motivated misinformation.

On the issue of pending bills, Kimwele revealed that the administration of Governor Julius Malombe has already cleared 95 percent of all pending payments. He stressed that settling pending bills remains a top priority for the county government, forming the first charge under Governor Malombe’s leadership.

Addressing concerns about staff salaries, Kimwele confirmed that county employees are paid between the 20th and 25th of every month. He criticized a section of leaders who he said have been insulting the Malombe administration and spreading malicious propaganda. He urged leaders to exercise responsibility and accountability in their public statements.
