Works to rehabilitate the Kwakilui–Muselele–Kamale road officially began today, marking a major step toward improving transport and accessibility in the area. The project, which has long been awaited by residents, is already progressing well according to local officials who conducted an early inspection. The road has been in a dilapidated state for years, making movement difficult for motorists, traders, and pedestrians.
During an inspection tour of the ongoing works, Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the construction. He noted that the project is a clear demonstration of the county government’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people. Ndingo emphasized that restoring the road will greatly ease travel and support economic activities, especially for rural communities that depend heavily on road access.
The MCA further acknowledged that persistent appeals from residents played a key role in pushing for the road’s repair. He praised the county leadership for responding to the concerns raised by local communities and prioritizing infrastructure that directly benefits them. According to him, the start of the works has already renewed hope among residents who had suffered the effects of poor road conditions for far too long.
Hon. Ndingo commended Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe for his continued investment in infrastructure development across the county. He said the governor’s intervention in the Kwakilui–Muselele–Kamale road project reflects a leadership style that listens, acts, and delivers. The MCA described the project as a fulfillment of promises made to the people of Yatta Kwa Vonza ward.
He concluded by assuring residents that the project will be monitored closely to ensure high-quality workmanship and timely completion. Ndingo reaffirmed that improving road networks remains a top priority for the county government as it works to enhance service delivery and stimulate local development. “Keeping the promise,” he said, is not just a statement—it’s the county leadership’s commitment to transforming lives.
