Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai scored a major political victory as President William Ruto visited the constituency to launch key development projects, including the Kitui East Technical and Vocational Training College at Zombe and the construction of the 25-kilometre Chuluni–Zombe road. The high-profile presidential visit marks one of the strongest demonstrations of government support for the region under Mbai’s leadership.

The new TVET college is expected to transform access to technical and practical skills training for young people in the constituency. MP Mbai has been a strong advocate for youth empowerment, and the institution’s establishment is seen as a direct result of his lobbying efforts in Parliament and within the national government.

In addition to education, infrastructure development featured prominently during the visit. The launch of the Chuluni–Zombe road was received with excitement by residents, who expressed optimism that its completion will ease transportation, boost trade, and open up new economic opportunities. The project is also seen as a major development milestone in the region, long underserved in terms of infrastructure.

Supporters of the MP say the president’s endorsement and direct investment in Kitui East is proof that Mbai’s strategy of working closely with the national government is bearing fruit. Many believe the development projects will bolster his influence and political standing ahead of the 2027 elections.

As celebrations continue across the constituency, MP Mbai thanked President Ruto for honouring his promise to support Kitui East. He urged residents to unite behind development-focused leadership, noting that this is only the beginning of more projects to come.
