Yatta kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo on Thursday led a delegation from the Urgent Action Fund Africa (UAFA) on a courtesy call to Kitui Governor, H.E. Dr. Julius Makau Malombe. The meeting, held at the governor’s office, focused on the progress of the transformative Healing Farm project currently underway at Kyainya in Muselele, Ilika Location.
During the briefing, the UAFA team informed the governor that the project—valued at KSh 1.3 billion—is now 90% complete. The Healing Farm, one of the most ambitious community empowerment initiatives in the region, has already begun to overhaul the socio-economic landscape of the once-marginalized Nguumo area of Kyainya.
Governor Malombe lauded the investment, noting that the project is a testament to the power of strategic partnerships and a shared vision for inclusive development. He emphasized that the Healing Farm will not only improve livelihoods but also position Kyainya as a model of rural transformation driven by innovation and community-centered development.
The Urgent Action Fund Africa team highlighted key milestones achieved so far, including infrastructure development, community capacity-building, and systems put in place to ensure sustainability. According to the team, the initiative is set to become a regional hub for healing, wellness, and agricultural excellence.
As part of the project’s next phase, UAFA announced a major Funders Day scheduled for 23rd November 2025, expected to attract more than 100 distinguished funders from across the continent and beyond. The event will serve to celebrate the project’s progress while strengthening partnerships for long-term success.
With modern infrastructure, improved access, and planned economic activities, residents say a “mini city in the village” is steadily taking shape in Kyainya—signaling new opportunities, better livelihoods, and a brighter future for the community.
