New Kimela Level II Health Facility Ends 25km Trek for Healthcare in Mwingi North
			By YOANA KIMWELE
Residents of Ngomeni Ward in Mwingi North Sub-County have a reason to smile after Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe officially commissioned the newly constructed Kimela Level II Health Facility. The long-awaited project marks a major milestone in improving access to essential healthcare services in one of the most remote parts of the county.
Before the facility’s completion, locals were forced to trek nearly 25 kilometers to Kyuso in search of medical attention—a journey that often risked the lives of the sick, expectant mothers, and children. With the new facility now operational, residents can access treatment and preventive health services much closer to their homes.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding health infrastructure across the county. He noted that quality healthcare remains a top priority under his development blueprint, emphasizing that every Kitui resident deserves access to reliable medical services without the burden of distance or cost.
The Governor further highlighted that his government has invested heavily in equipping and staffing rural health centers to ensure sustainability and effective service delivery. He said the Kimela facility will soon be supplied with adequate medicine, modern equipment, and trained personnel to meet the community’s growing health needs.
Area MCA Hon. Nzungi Ngwele, together with other leaders and community members, lauded Governor Malombe for his deliberate focus on healthcare development in rural areas. They described the project as a life-changing initiative that will reduce preventable deaths, improve maternal health, and uplift the overall well-being of the people of Ngomeni Ward.
