Kitui County Solarizes 31 Boreholes to Boost Water Access
			Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe has announced that his administration has successfully solarized 31 boreholes across the county, significantly improving access to clean and reliable water for more than 3,000 households.
Speaking while highlighting the county’s progress in the water sector, Governor Malombe said the initiative is part of his government’s ongoing efforts to enhance sustainable water solutions through renewable energy. He noted that the use of solar power has reduced operational costs while ensuring consistent water supply, especially in remote and arid areas.
Among the boreholes that have been solarized are Masukanioni in Mumoni Ward, Kyanda in Kyome/Thaana, Ingamba in Nuu, Itaani in Voo/Kyamatu, Katuku in Kwa Mutonga/Kithumula, Kamutyanzuku in Mutha, Kilinditini in Kisasi, and Kwa Kisini/Kathungu in Mulango.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing water scarcity across Kitui, emphasizing that access to water remains a key pillar of his development agenda. He added that more projects are underway to ensure every household has access to safe and clean water for domestic and agricultural use.

Governor Malombe lauded local communities for supporting the county’s water initiatives and urged residents to take part in the protection and maintenance of the water infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability.
