KASALU CLAIMS KITUI HAS BEEN SIDELINED BY KENYA KWANZA GOVERNMENT
Kitui County Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu has accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of deliberately sidelining Kitui County in matters of development. Speaking during a public function in Kitui Central, Kasalu claimed that the national government has allocated fewer projects to Kitui compared to other regions, saying the county is being “punished politically” for its unwavering support for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
According to Dr. Kasalu, most of the ongoing projects in the county have been initiated through county government efforts or by development partners, and not directly funded by the national government. She added that the few visible projects are a result of Kalonzo’s growing influence as the main challenger to President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“The government has completely neglected Kitui because Kalonzo Musyoka is seen as a political threat. But we will not be intimidated — we stand firmly behind our son,” she stated, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Her remarks have since stirred mixed reactions among locals and leaders across the region. Supporters of the Wiper Party have echoed Kasalu’s sentiments, arguing that Kitui’s development pace has stagnated due to political discrimination. However, Kenya Kwanza leaders from the region have dismissed her claims as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that the government is implementing development projects equitably across all counties.
As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how many residents agree with Dr. Kasalu’s assertions — but one thing is clear: her remarks have reignited the conversation about political favoritism and regional equity in national development.
