Kenyan Presidential candidate 2017 Hon. Dr. Jeff Kaluyu yesterday wrote a moving nolstagic condolence to Late Dr. Wathe Mwangangi.
Recalling how he helped Dr. Mwangangi complete his thesis for a PhD, Kaluyu remembers him as a proponent of the freedom of speech.
He was a senior high school student at St. Charles Lwanga when Jeff showed up as a form one student.
Here is what he wrote;
It’s hard to imagine the loss of Wathe (allow me to call him just Wathe the way I called him during our memorable days).
You may all remember I even made him a Basketball clip since he motivated me to learn the game when he was a senior boy at SCL.
In return I helped him complete his PhD work 3 years ago.I also advised and mentored his young son, who is now studying abroad.
All I can say is that Wathe was a close family friend.We met last 4 months ago at Finance House.
His signature look at someone for a few lingering seconds before he responds to anything is still vivid in my mind.
And in social setting he still never lost that Lwanga freedom of speech.
The Late Dr. Wathe always spoke his mind.He was a rising star and a promising leader whose dreams should not be left to die with him.I will miss the late Dr. Patrick Wathe Mwangangi a lot.
All I can say for now is “This world is really not our home”.
May God rest his soul in peace.So long friend.
Hon. Dr. Jeff Kaluyu.
