The Kamba Benga and rhumba fraternity was thrown into mourning this week after the passing of veteran maestro Matee Festo of Muema brothers, the COUNTY DIARY reports
In his hey days, Muema belted several famous hits including “Stella” which become one of the most played songs in Kenyan radios, dominating local billboards and charts.
His massive fame was due to the fact that Muema was the lead vocalist and guitarist coupled with a knack for belting catchy hits that rocked clubs and dancehalls in post independence Kenya.
Other hits that Festo became famous for included “Purity”, “Koma”, “Mwaitu”, Wakilumi amongst other notable albums.
Amongst those who eulogised the fallen hero included veteran Journalist Onesmus Kilonzo who described the man as “an all round musician”.
