Emminent Kitui Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau today commenced the maiden inspection of the on going baling of grass pastures at the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), local media reports said.

” These bales will be stored appropriately and will be distributed later to Kitui County farmers to cushion them during dry spell” said Dr. Wathe at the site.

The project was established by Kitui County Government in partnership with SEKU in 2018/2019 FY, to promote Livestock Development in the County.

Dr Nzau was accompanied by CECM for Agriculture, Water and Livestock Development Emmanuel Kisangau, Deputy VC Finance, Development and Planning Prof. Muasya, SEKU Registrar – Resource Mobilization Dr Samuel Mutukaa and Deputy Director for Livestock Development Dr Josephat Maluki.

Dr Wathe Nzau, at South Eastern Kenya University(SEKU) today, receiving a bale of grass pasture from a baling machine which was procured by Kitui County Government under the leadership of H.E Governor Charity Ngilu in 2018/2019 FY, to promote Livestock Development in the County.

Dr Wathe and the CECM for Agriculture, Water and Livestock Development Emmanuel Kisangau were in SEKU, to inspect the baling process which started today.

The machine has a capacity of baling more than 300 bales per day. The bales will be stored, later to be distributed to farmers during dry spell.
