Prolific Kitui County Minister Hon Koki Musau yesterday led county ex perts in helping retrieve the body of a 24yrs old youngman from River Tiva.
Late Muendo Ngyema who drowned in River Tiva last week on Monday 27th April 2020 while swimming with other boys, local media reports said.
Kitui Governor H.E Charity Kaluki Ngilu condolence message was delivered to the bereaved family and the people of Kanyangi Division in Lower Yatta Sub-County by Kitui County Minister for Tourism, Sports and Culture Koki Musau.
Popularly known as Kuvasila, the hardworking, witty politician who doubles as the Ag. County Minister for Environment and Natural Resources was accompanied by Chief Officer for Water and Irrigation Kioko Kiilu Kasamba
The two have been lauded fo leading the advance rescue team to the raging, roaring River Tiva that boiled into a cauldron and snuffed the life of the budding youth.
Benevolent H.E Governor Ngilu, who also extended the financial support to the aggrieved family to meet the costs of the burial cautioned parents to keep watch and ensure that their are children remain safe.
“Parents must strive to always keep watch of their round the clock and accompany them when going to the rivers especially during this rainy season” said Ngilu.
It was after receiving call of distress from the aggrieved family earlier yesterday that the able Governor immediately instructed the Water Chief Officer to co-ordinate the Kitui County Disaster Response Rescue Team and head straight to the scene.
The Response Rescue Team immediately took an Excavator and Water Dewatering Pumps.
Within 3hrs of their arrival, the experts managed to retrieve the body which had been buried deep under the sand of River Tiva.
In his statement, the County Minister Hon Patrick Musau on his part reiterated Ngilu’s warning;.
“You must make sure that your children don’t go and play or swim in the the surging, raging Rivers”.
Kuvasila further cautioned the guardians to make sure that everyone is fully adhering to the Government measures and regulations — washing and sanitizing our hands, keeping distances while in public places as well as wearing masks to help curb the spread of COVID-19 Corona Virus.
The County Minister also disbursed face masks to the people present at the sombre scene.
On his part Chief Officer Kioko Kiilu Kasamba while addressing the much thankful people from that area because of of our Governor’s quick response, thanked them for their unity and co-operation during the entire period the body of the boy was being searched.
Other Officials present was the area MCA Hon Andrew Ndisya Lusa a.k.a King’auwi, the area Sub-County Administrator Ambrose Muthama, Kitui County Disaster Rescue Response Team Bernard Mwela, Village Administrator Wilson Kalii among others.
