Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony launches Fumigation Exercise In Major towns

Residents of Kericho have been urged to maintain social distance to avoid the spread of the covid-19 . Speaking during the launch of fumigation exercise today in Kericho town ,#Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony said regular cleaning of hands is still the best measure .

Chepkwony said the Covid -19 is a globally pandemic and fumigation process will help in minimizing the spread of such of infections.

“The fumigation exercise will be regularly done at cafew hours when people are indoors this will allow the county health officials to carry the task without any disturbance”, the county boss lamented.

He further added that the county government of Kericho had deployed 80 public health officials and 90 community health workers to the entire county to help in the fumigation process which will take a duration of two months.

“We are targeting public centres such as medical facilities,markets,public vehicle stages (Bus stops) and other hot spot areas which are alleged to spread the virus in that we have acquired 36 electric,9 motorized and 20 manual pumps that will be used in the exercise”,#Chepkwony said.

A spot check reveal that the county has set up 132 hand washing hot spots site with running water to ease residents ensure that they clean their hands regularly.

The governor urged the resident to use the facilities in a responsible way and any one found of tempering with such properties will be brought to book and will be liable for it.

“By encouraging the hand washing programe I there for order the water service provider Kericho Water and Sanitation Company (KEWASCO) to suspend off all payments of water bills by the clients and reinstate all water connections for clients that had been cut off as a result of delayed payments”, The governor said.

He also urged to everyone to be more vigilant and report any suspecious case or symptoms of Corona virus that might have come across to the health officers through the County government tall free hotline number 0800720464 .

“We all aware of the menace of this pandemic disease that has brought to the world and the only extra ordinary measure is to emphasize in social distancing and avoiding hand shake” Chepkwony said.

This comes after the government through the health chief administration secretary Mercy Mwangangi announce the new confirm 12 cases covid-19 in the last 24 hours being a total sum of 122 ,4 recoveries and 3 deaths.
