Since the first case of Corona Virus was confirmed in Kenya on March 13, 2020, the County Government of Kitui has taken measures aimed at ensuring the safety of the public.
These measures include proactive surveillance and isolation of any patient with symptoms that are similar to those of Corona Virus (Covid-19).
So far, four patients, who exhibited symptoms similar to those of COVID 19, have been quarantined at the county isolation centre situated at Kauwi level IV hospital. Their samples were submitted to Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) for testing.

A 30 year old female admitted from Mwingi Sub-county hospital on March 22, 2020. Results negative for Covid-19. She is being processed for discharge.
A 27 year old female admitted from Mwingi Sub-county on March 22, 2020. Results negative for Covid-19. She is being processed for discharge.
Further this morning, a suspected case of Covid-19 was reported in Ngomeni. The patient has been transferred to the County Isolation Centre at Kauwi level IV hospital. The samples from this patient will be sent to KEMRI laboratory in Nairobi for Covid-19 test.
I urge Kitui residents to continue observing directives issued by County leadership and adhere to directions issued by the Ministry of Health.
