Kilifi Governor Amos Kingi goes into Self Quarantine

COVID 19:COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KILIFI: PRESS RELEASE

Following the confirmation of one case of coronavirus infection in Kilifi County as communicated by the
Cabinet Secretary in charge of Health, Hon. Mutani Kagwe, my Government is scaling up efforts to ensure safety of our people from the spread of this virus.kilifi Governor has said.

In this regard I ask for full cooperation and understanding as some of these measures may be drastic as necessitated by the prevailing situation, I want to confirm that the patient has already been taken into Isolation, the Governor has said.

We have already identified all county staff who came into direct contact with ordered them to go on mandatory self quaranine for fourteen days during
supervision will be undertaken by our trained medical personnel and enforcement officers to ensure strict compliance.

The patient has also provided us with the names and contacts of those with whom he had direct
contact. Our County coronavirus emergency response teams have already been deployed across the county and every contact to ensure that all these people immediately fully observe all coronavirus protocols including the mandatory 14 days quarantine so as to keep Our people safe.

1 also came into direct contact with the patient and as the coronavirus protocols demands, I have placed myself on self quarantine starting thursday 19 March 2020 kilifi Governor added. “I also had the emergency response team visit me at my home to collect specimen tor testing. I got my results and they turned Negative”

Despite turning negative, coronavirus protocols dictate that I continue with self quarantine till the expiry of the mandatory 14 days. I will fuly comply, HE Kingi has said.

Just ike many people are currenty working from home because of this pandemic,I will also work from home to ensure that I give proper and timely guidance to our people and paticularly the Kilii
Counly coronavirus emergency response teams so as to safeguard our people from this pandemic

Let me emphasize that we MUST all strictly observe the safety measures earlier communicated by the National Government and Kilifi County government.

We shall be reviewing these advisories from time to time as the situation dictates.
