Kericho Governor HE Paul Chepkwony on Wednesday Ordered shut down of all open-air markets as one of the drastic measures to minimize crowding and reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus, the COUNTY DIARY has learnt.

Speaking to the press today at Kericho District Hospital, Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony said preparedness towards fighting against the Coronavirus is a collective responsibility to every city where he urged the public to adhere to the measures that they have it across.

“One of the greatest measures that we have put across is to shut down open-air markets until further notice only with exception of the sale of dry goods items,” Chepkwony said.

The county boss also said all persons entering all hospital has to be screen and will be required to observe proper hygiene and utilize hand washing sanitizers provided at the strategic points of entry . He also said that they have banned regular visits to patients across all the private and public hospitals until further notice.

Other measures which the county has put across is a suspension of operations and closure of child care facilities, limited entry to health facilities only authorized persons, all night clubs and other entertainment joints are under operational and it’s staffs have been called to observe high standards of hygiene among others.

“I hereby also urged the public to stay at home avoid travels, crowds or large gatherings, to keep recommend a social distance off of at least one metre away from each other to these all acts as a great precautionary measure,” Chepkwony added.

Chepkwony added that they have established a toll-free line 0800 0720 464 and members of the public can report any suspected case signs of the pandemic of Coronavirus disease.

He further directed the county Emergency response committee to take charges of all emerging issues and gave authority to update the residents of Kericho on the progress of the current situation.

These come a day after the results of suspected 47-year male turn negative after he was complaining of weak joint befitting symptoms of Coronavirus (covid -19).
The suspected person is said to have been ailing of blood sugar as per the laboratory results.
