From DG’s Desk Nymphs (young locust) control update, in Kitui County

Ground spraying by the County Government in collaboration with the National Government started on 24th February, 2020 and the following progress has been made.

A) Kyuso Ward:

1)Maseki site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
2) Kiseuni & Kyethetu site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
3) Kivangwa site -spraying on going, Nymphs band 20% decimated.

B) Mumoni Ward:

1) Kyoea in kakuyu site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
2) Mbarani site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
3)Kasiongo and Ngugani site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
4) Kyandali site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
5) Nguutani in Mutanda Village site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.

C) Tsekuru Ward:
1) Usueni site – spraying ongoing, Nymphs band 90% decimated.
2) Kaivirya site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.

D) Tharaka Ward:

1) Kadimba site – spraying completed, Nymphs band 100% decimated.
2) Mangara in Gacigongo site -spraying on going, Nymphs band 50% decimated.
3) Ituramura site -spraying ongoing, Nymphs band 30% decimated.
4) Karikoni site spraying ongoing Nymphs band 30% decimated.

As Kitui County Government, we are fully committed to ensure all the hatched nymphs (young locust) are fully eliminated through spraying, to make Kitui County free from swarms of desert locust.
