Desert Locust Update, in Kitui County from the office of Deputy Governor Dr Wathe.

Breeding sites:
1) Kyuso Ward – Maseki, Kivangwa and Kyethetu/ Kiseuni Villages.
2) Mumoni Ward – Kyoea/ Kakuyu, Mbarani/ Katse, Ngungani and Mutanda Villages.
3)Tseikuru Ward- Kaivirya and Kamunyu in Usueni Villages.
4)Tharaka Ward- Magara in Gacigogo Village, Ituramura and Karikoni in Gatoroni Village and Kadimba Village.

Hatching started between 19th February to 26th February, 2020, in-
1. Kyuso Ward-
°Maseki.
°Kivangwa.
°Kyethetu/ Kiseuni.
2. Mumoni Ward –
°Mbarani.
°Kyandali.
°Nguutani in Mutanda Village.
°Kyoea in Kakuyu Village.
°Kasiongo Village.
3.Tseikuru Ward- Kaivirya.
4.Tharaka Ward-
°Kadimba .
°Ituramura.

Spraying of Nymphs (young locust:
Ground spraying of Nymphs started on 24th February 2020 at Maseki in Kyuso Ward, using both motorized and manual hand sprayers.

The team of service men from National Youth Service spraying the Nymphs in different areas in Mwingi North Sub County has grown to 150, after receiving 50 more from NYS, on Friday last week.
