Ngilu woos KWS in Forestry Conservation Partnership in Kitui

Director-General Kenya Wild Services Brigadier (retired) John Migui Waweru on Thursday paid a courtesy call on kitui Governor Charity Ngilu at her office, The COUNTY DIARY has learnt.

Governor Ngilu and Mr Waweru discussed the conservation and state of security of Kitui South National Reserve, the Kora National park in Kitui County and other areas of co-operation.

Governor Ngilu thanked KWS for moving in swiftly and restoring order and beefing up security in Kitui South National reserve following the sustained bandit attacks late last year.

Governor Ngilu briefed Mr Waweru on the progress achieved by the county among them Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), the food security, water and the banning of charcoal in Kitui among others.

Brigadier Waweru informed Governor Ngilu that KWS will immediately start exploring the possibility of awarding KICOTEC the tender to make uniforms for the KWS warders and procuring other merchandise from the county garment facility.

In attendance was County Secretary Dr Joshua Chepchieng, CEC Tourism Mr. Koki Musau, chief officer in charge Mr. Zakayo Kimanzi and Director Tourism Mr. Hezron Mulatya.

The DG was accompanied by the Director National parks and reserves Prof. Charles Musyoki, KWS Security director Nancy Kabete, and Asst. director Tsavo.
