More Than 1000 Goats Sold Off At the Nguni Goat Auction In Mwingi

NGUNI: More than 1000 goats were sold off during the 3rd Kitui Cultural Festival and the Nguni Goat Auction on Saturday, media reports said.

The goats galore on parade included main indigenous goat breeds, the small East African Goat, the Galla, Somali goats and indigenous kamba goats were on auction.

“We are happy that this year’s event has attracted more sponsors, more buyers and many locals than last year. We hosted high profile dignitaries including a Cabinet Secretary” said the event Patron and Founder Kitui Senator Hon. Kiio Wambua.

The guest list included ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, event founder Kitui Senator Kiio Wambua, KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi.

Also present included representatives of H.E Kalonzo Musyoka & Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.

Local Kamba traditional dancers from Tharaka and acrobatic performers were at hand to entertain guests and locals at the highly successful fete.

“Most of the goats here at the Nguni Goat Auction have great potential due to their characteristics and adaptability to a wide range of climatic conditions in the country. Most breeds are raised for meat and can do well in most parts of Kenya” said organizers speaking to COUNTY DIARY at the venue.
