I will be a Good Will Ambassador for Kitui County Person’s with Disability, Hon Senator Isaac Mwaura tells Kitui People.
Speaking from the office of Kitui County Minister for Tourism, Sports and Culture, the Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura whose nomination falls under the category of Person’s with Disability at the National Senate Assembly, said that he is going to be a Good Will Ambassador for People with Disability in Kitui County.

The Senator had paid a Courtesy call to the Minister’s office on his busy day after visiting KICOTEC along side his legislative role at Senate Mashinani proceedings program being held at Kitui County Assembly. The Nominated Senator held discussions with the County Minister on matters touching on issues of Person’s with Disability in Kitui County.

The County Minister briefed him on the policies the County is in the process of formulating which includes the County Gender Policy and the County Disability Policy.

The County Minister requested the Nominated Senator to support more funding in County budget for person’s with Disability; especially our County due to its vastness and high number of PWD’S. He also requested him to source for more NGO’s dealing with issues of Person’s with Disability to come to Kitui County and offer more support.

The Nominated Senator assured the Minister on his support on all the issues raised. He was especially impressed with the Governor’s commitment to PWD’S and her visionary leadership. He lauded the establishment of KICOTEC which he said it should be called KICOTEI [INDUSTRY]

He noted the high number of jobs created and the value that it adds to the economy which is also an avenue for creating jobs for the youth and was especially most impressed by that fact that the Governor had made sure person’s with Disability had actually been employed at KICOTEC.

He advised the CECM to include a budget line for People with Disability in the County budget for 2020/2021. He promised to lobby to the controller of budgets to facilitate the rigged fencing of these funds so that they address the unique needs of People with Disability.

Other Officers from the County Ministry of Culture present was Chief Officer Mr. Zakayo G Kimanzi, Deputy Director Mr. Shedrack Musyoka and Principal Community Development Officer in charge of Disability Rhoda Matuku.
