Office of the Deputy Governor -Kitui County

PRESS RELEASE:

Following the banditry attacks in Kitui East and Kitui South Constituencies, I would like to assure the affected families that the County Government of Kitui in partnership with the National Government and Kenya Red Cross, are keen to ensuring normalcy is restored in Mutha and other affected areas.

A team of officers from the Office of the Governor led by the County Secretary Dr Joshua Chepchieng and Red Cross officers yesterday visited the affected families that are living in camps.
We take note that over 300 women and children were displaced following the unlawful practise and need to be assisted to guarantee their safety.

For that reason, the Office of the Governor dispatched water bowsers while the Red Cross donated 200 blankets and other non- food items to the affected areas as emergency mitigation.

My fellow Kitui residents, I would like to promise the affected people that, Kitui County Government, Red Cross and the National Government are doing everything possible to make sure our people are safe and able to receive food , water, drugs and other non food items to cater for their needs.

I also want to thank our security team led by Kitui County Commissioner for working tirelessly to manage the situation by deploying adequate security officers to protect and patrol the area in a bid to restore peace.

Dr Wathe Nzau,
Deputy Governor – Kitui.
