Kitui County Government, in partnership with the National Government and the Kenya Red Cross kitui branch, is spearheading a return to normalcy program in Mutha area through a number of interventions.
This afternoon, the County Secretary led a team of County officers and the Red Cross in exploring the various immediate and long term solutions to the crisis in Mutha.
The team then flagged off immediate emergency supplies of non food items, blankets and medicine to Mutha area where over 300 women and children have been displaced following ongoing banditry.
In addition the County has dispatched two water bowsers and in coordination with Red Cross sent 200 blankets and other non-food items to the affected areas as emergency mitigation.
The response team comprising Kitui County Government and Red Cross officers will conduct a rapid assessment of the situation to determine further interventions required.
The 3, County Government, Red Cross and National Government are mobilizing more aid especially food and more non food items to stabilize the displaced persons.
The County Commissioner’s office and the County security departments are properly seized of the matter and have deployed adequate security to restore the situation to normalcy.
