Mutonguni ward by-election which is slated to be on 17th October is facing yet another hurdle after over 7 Aspirants who have shown interest for the ward job rejected the IEBC Deputy returning officer, The COUNTY DIARY have learnt.
In a letter copied to IEBC National chairman Mr chebukati, the candidates have outlined several reasons as to why they think the oncoming by-election might not be fair, and credible after all.
According to Aspirants the Deputy Returning officer is a Nephew to kitui Senator hon Enoch Wambua who has an interest in the said by-election, as he has a candidate who belongs to his party wiper ( wiper Democratic movement party) hence the Conflict of interest will automatically arise, and the likelihood to compromise the employment of election officials, who will be presiding officers, Poling Clerks are very high,Eng Mati has said
The said Deputy Returning officer comes from the Same village with kitui senator and kitui west Member of Parliament hon Vethi Nyenze and the aspirants have expressed their dissatisfaction with the officer, who he is wiper official.
The candidates led by Eng Mati have asked the IEBC headquarters to replace the officer so that the Mutonguni by-election can be fair and credible..
