The flagship KANGU KANGU water project will provide a lasting water solution for over 30,000 residents in Kitui South who have grappled with biting water problems in the past Chief Officer Mr Kiilu has said.
When COUNTY DIARY visited the site of the multi-million water project on Tuesday, engineers on the ground were making frantic last minute repairs on the intake infiltration galleriesat Athi river and are expected to completed the piping by Friday 2nd.
The ministry of water is currently supervising Kanyongonyo – Kiseuni pipeline testing has been completed, minor repairs is expected to be completed this week and normal water supply will resume from Monday.
Water treatment works at Kangu Kangu hill backwashing has been completed from last month and is ready for use, Kangu Kangu – Mutomo pipeline second testing is expected to begin on Monday. (Once intake is done by this week. Low level (reducing the design head) steel tank was completed in April in Mutomo
Rerouting of the reticulation system in Mutomo hill reservoir tanks and supply lines was completed last month and its expected to supply the residents of Mutomo with clean water
After the second line testing, the residents should expect water in Mutomo anytime the chief officer has said.
