Kitui Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in partnership with PACJA, KITUI CARITAS and TROCAIRE NGOs has held a consultative workshop on Kitui County Draft Climate Change Policy and the hand over training ceremony in a Kitui hotel.
The consultative workshop aims at increasing the understanding and support for the draft climate change policy and unearthing unique opportunities under sustainable development goals (SDG) Number 13 on Climate Action.
The workshop is also in line with PACJA’s 2016-2020 Strategy which gives impetus to building partnership thus important in driving policy change and in promoting public engagement and mobilization.
The workshop focused on drafting climate change policy development in Kitui County and developing tangible recommendation that will steer the county to be more adaptive and responsive to the vulnerable communities created by anthropogenic climate change.
Among those present were the C.O for Environment and Natural Resources Eng. Joseph Kimanga, Deputy Director Ben Mukulo, County Policy Advisor Nzungi Ngwele, the Chairperson of the Environment Committee in the Assembly who is the MCA Mui Ward Hon Kavolonza Mbaya, NGO representatives and Civil Societies
