Kitui County Executive for Tourism Sports and Culture Patrick Koki Musau on Wednesday led a high powered delegation team from UN Women.
The Council of Governors and Korea International Co-operation Agency [KOICA] on Wednesday visited Kathingati Self Help Women Group to receive their grievances regarding the challenges the groups is facing when dealing with drought resistance crops which they plant and later process it locally in view of value addition.
The team is looking for a possible partnership with County Government of Kitui to support Women empowerment by assisting them in a bid to see to it that the low income households produce more food at long run.
Kitui County is one of the six ASAL counties KOICA is going to fund women groups ttbrough a program called Women Climate Smart Agriculture.
Women empowerment is one of our Governors manifesto pillar no. 4 and by UN Women and KOICA team coming together to help them, it will see them start their own Co-operatives which will strengthen them economically.
The CECM had been accompanied by the Chief Officer, County Ministry of Agriculture, Water, irrigation and Livestock Development James Songolo,
Mwingi West Sub-County Crop Officer, Mr , Tourism, sports and Culture Community Development Assistant Angelina Kitheka and the area National Government leadership represented by the area Assistant Chief.
