Dr Wathe Joins Ukambani Governors for Thwake Dam Consultative Meeting In Narobi

    Kitui deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau on Tuesday joined other Leaders for a Consultative Meeting Convened by Ministry of Water and sanitation CS Mr Chelungui in Nairobi.

    Dr wathe Nzau was representing kitui Governor HE Ngilu in a meeting attended by Makueni Governor prof Kibwana , Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua among other senior officers, in Meeting at Ole Sereni hotel Nairobi.

    The Meeting Convened by the Cabinet Secretary Water & Sanitation Mr Chelungui in Nairobi Hotel.

    The cabinet secretary met leaders from kitui, mks & Makueni on the way forward on implementation of Thwake Dam project among other issues around the mega dam .

    The 82billion mega dam is set to address water challenges in three ukambani counties, the project is funded by GoK & African development bank.

    Phase 1 is dam construction which 85% is in Makueni & 15% situated in kitui county. Phase 2 entails water line supply & power generation. Phase 3 is irrigation.

    This project is the largest/biggest to be undertaken by National Government since independence.

    Among the resolution for the meeting was how to have the locals benefit during the construction of dam and after the completion of the mega project.

    The Chinese contractor was also present during the meeting, Kitui Governor Ngilu was represented by her able deputy Governor Dr wathe nzau .
